Clearly explain how the war expanded rapidly after Austria-Hungary's July 29, 1914 bombardment of Belgrade, Serbia:

 

  1. What happened in Europe on a daily, sometimes hourly basis from July 29 to November 11in relation to nation's mobilizing and declaring war upon each other.  And why?  Why, for example, did Germany march into Belgium instead of attacking Russia?  Why did Britain enter the war? 
  2. What happened in Asia:  What did the Japanese do and when?
  3. What happened with the Ottoman Empire?  When did it form an alliance with Germany, when did it enter the war and why, when did it attack Russia?
