sustainable development practices have provides benefits to the community and environment

many of its goals.<why is your font changing here ? the paper must be all in one font> Many CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY concerns have been raised about the design of the BHP Billiton dam in Brazil before the failing
of the catastrophe which nearly killed more than 28 people. The problem identification was that
the Vale Company which has a joint venture with Brazilian Iron ore has however failed to accept
the fact that there were aware of the 2013 report that warned of design failures in the dam
system. The tailing dam system failure is not year clear and the context of the problem seems to
be that of the local geography and the design of the dam thereby resulting to a catastrophic scene.
Some of the reporters claim that the problem was also as a result of a common mistake in the
operation and also negligence in terms of monitoring.
There was the need to have a contingency plan which was to be drawn up and therefore
to be made a requirement in the means of licensing. This was due to the fact that there was a
rural community in the town of Bento Rodrigues. However, this contingency plan was never
looked at in the renewal application and also the government was not aware of it.
The problem identification of the dam was due to the contamination of the adjacent waste
piles which was as a result of rain patterns and the rise in the water table thereby bringing about
the collapse of the structure. The regular rain causes the overflowing of the water up to the waste
pile. The breach leads to collapses thereby creating large water flow towards the dam?s wall and
to the people.
There is a strategic assessment taking place by the BHP Billiton Iron Ore which assesses
the matters which influences the National Environmental and this strategy is associated with the
development of new ore mines and its improvements on infrastructure. There is also the need to
expand the already existing iron ore and also to look at matters on rehabilitation or the closure of
the Iron ore mine. (Schoenberger, 2016). CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY References
