In this assignment, you will build SAS programs that read in data, perform simple calculations, and output results.  The problems you are to address come from your textbook:

1. Problem 1.8 on page 22
   1. Control totals: 4 records, sum(salary) = 333000

1. Problem 1.9 on page 23  
   1. Control totals: 5 records, sum(sbp) = 664

Although the programs aren?t that difficult to write, it is important that you establish good programming practices now, by doing the following:

Provide a PROC MEANS in each program confirming the above control totals

Input your data in one step, and then perform calculations in subsequent steps.  To do this, make use of the DATA statement and the SET statement.

Make ample use of comments, which describe what each section of code is doing. 

Along these lines, keep your comments looking consistent, either by using the * or the /*     */ statements.

Make your programs look as attractive as possible, by indenting consistently and breaking sections up through the use of appropriate white space (i.e. blank lines).

Grading points include:

Having SAS programs that work and produce correct results. 

Place all of your SAS programs in one submission ? make sure it?s crystal clear which program is which via the use of comments and white space.

SAS programs that have ample documentation (comments) and look attractive (ample white space, consistent indenting).
