(solution) The Earth's magnetic field is invisible to most, but important

The Earth?s magnetic field is invisible to most, but important in the development and maintenance of life on Earth.  It is a bit disturbing that one of the physical characteristics of our planet we depend on is not consistent and even fickle.   In this exercise research the following:

  1. How is the Earth?s magnetic field significant for life on Earth?
  2. What impact might there be on plants or animals if  the field changes or disappears?
  3. Any evidence of magnetic field impacting life forms in the past geologic eras?
  4. How is the current field changing? What are its dynamics?
  5. When was the most recent flip?
  6. How long did the flip last and how much time did it take to flip?
  7. Due Oct 10 noon – only responses left in the submission box will be graded
